What Does This Transvaginal Scan Report Indicate?
Question: My Scanning Report (TVS) shows the following details.
Urinary Bladder: Empty
Cervix&Uterus: Anteverted 7.6X4.1X5cms, vol:82cc, normal in size, shape & echotexture. Endometrium 10mm.
Ovaries: RO: 3.6X2.5X3.1cms. Vol:15cc. Haemorrhagic cyst 2.4cms
LO: 2.2X1.5X2.1cms. Vol:4cc AFC: 1
Pouch of Douglas: No evidence of free fluid noted
Impression: Haemorrhagic cyst right.
Can you please let me know what are the implication of this report and how this should be treated?

You have a small benign hemorrhagic cyst in the right ovary. Such cyst occurs when bleeding occurs within a cyst. It can cause an abdominal pain. If the pain is severe then surgical removal is needed. In case there is no pain or symptoms then it should be monitored every 6 months with an ultrasound scan.
It usually does not increase in size and remains as it is for many months. Only monitoring by ultrasound scan or MRI scan and blood CA-125 levels need to be monitored to rule out any malignancy.
