What Does This Ultrasound Report Indicate?

Question: Hello Doctor,
I am having the below symptom since 15 days.

1) Vomating sensation
2) Knee pain some days comes and goes since some time. Light knee pain for that i take Dolo 650.
3) I have a history of Kidney stone since past 5 years

Just as a basic, i have done with the below investigation. Could you please reveiw my report and advise if there is any problem with my kidney functioning or why i am getting just vomating sensation. I tried Acidity tablet but nothing is working for me, Please adbise me

I have seen the reports you have attached and here are my interpretions

1. Ultrasound shows non obstructive calculi. It wont be of any problem, drinking plenty of water should take care of it
2. Your complete blood count is normal and also your renal function test
3. Your urine routine shows protein loss. Protein loss is often seen in patients who are diabetics and hypertensive, I suggest you to get fasting blood sugar, post prandial blood sugar and HbA1C done
4. Also I recommend you to get a 24 hour urine protein test done to know how much protein is getting excreted per day

I must add here that small protein loss can happen with after exercise. If you have exercised in the recent past then please repeat it after 1 week.

Vomiting is not related to the kidney function. I suggest the following things

1. Pantoprazole with domperidone combination is the ideal tablet for you, it can be taken twice daily before food
2. Avoid milk, milk products, spicy food, caffeine and alcohol
3. Do not go to bed immediately after eating, stay up for about 2 hours
4. If the problem persists please approach a gastro enterologist

Hello Doctor,

Thank you for your prompt resposne. But, i am having this stome problem since past 5 years. 1st Year i have done with Lethtropsy and 2nd year again got pain and i had a bottle of beer (hahahaha).

and 3rd year again i got the stone and pain again and it passed. Every six months once i do ultrasound and it all the times it shows one or the ohter stones in my both the kidney's.

Is there any way i can get rid of this stones. Do i need to do and Dieting to avoid stone or can you suggest me any other idea so i can get rid of these stones.

Appreciate your help.

It is a known fact that drinking beer gets rid of stones, most likely because of its diuersing properties ( ability to cause more urination).

Regarding dietary advice. Now, there are many types of stones, calcium oxalate, urate, cysteine, etc. After lithotripsy if your urine was sent for analysis we could have known what kind of stones you were making. However in general the best way to avoid stones is by drinking plenty of water, atleast around 6-8 glasses of water. What is more important is to avoid dehydration, dehydration is known to cause stones.

The best idea to get rid of stones is to drink plenty of water. However one other way is to take Hydrocholorothiazide tablets along with water for a week, this is known to wash out the renal stones. It is not necessary in your case as it is not causing any form of obstruction.

I hope I was of help, I am sorry for the short delay in my reply, we had done a renal transplantation at our hospital which required monitoring.

As you advised, today morning just now i have down with fasting blood sugar and i will do post prandial blood sugar test at 8.00 AM and also i will do 24 hours urine protien analysis and will give you the report i hope by Sunday evening.

Hello Docrot,

Each month i do my BP check up and it was normal. Yesterday as well i did the BP check up, then also it is normal. Do, i need to do further BP check up and also please advise since i am doing 24 hours urine protien check up do i need to do HbA1C as well if my blood sugar is nil in today's report?

Sorry for the multiple question.

In my Ultrasound scaning report impression showed as :

Mild hepatomegalywith grade 1 infiltration along with bilateral small non-obstructive renal calucli.

Is there any chance because of liver problem whether Protine is going in urine? and also if my diabitic is nil and BP is nil just want to know what might be the reason. Is it kidney damage only?

And for your information i am non alchoholic, non smoker and also my hiegt is 5.3 and weight 56KG.

Mild fatty hepatomegaly is seen in majority of Indians due to high fat and carbohydrate diet. It is usually of no harm, however in some it can lead to permanent damage to the liver. I suggest cutting down on fat and starting a tablet called atorvastain 10 mg at night. It is also important to do bending exercises.

Hepatomegaly is not the reason for loss of protein in the urine. Based on the 24 urine report I can interpret what could be the cause as there are many reasons for loss of protein in urine. It is difficult to interpret with just urine routine

Hello Doctor,

As a 2nd openion i have done my Complete Urine examination again in different lab today and also as you advsied i have done with Sugar fasting and PP test also i have attached the HbA1C report.

I notices that in the old CUE report only Protien exist but now in today's report RBC count is there. Now, i am in the process of Collecting my Urine sample for 24 hours Urine protine test.

I will get this 24 hours Urine Protien analysys test report tomorrow by EOD.

I hope my Kidney is not damaged? Please advise meif you are you able to find any abnormalities in my today's report. It looks like day by day my reports getting worst......!!!!!!

It looks like there is small amount of blood in the urine. The most common reason for blood in urine is because of kidney stone.

I am happy that you do not have diabetes. Please get back to me with the protein report. Please repeat serum creatinine while you are collecting your protein report.
