What Does Weight Loss And Nausea Even After Doxinate Usage During Pregnancy Indicate?
Question: Hello.
I was diagnosed with pcos in august 2013 as my period was late for the first time and was prescribed metformin 1000mg/day and folic acid tablets. I was on this for a brief period my periods regularised from 36 days to a 30 day regular cycle.
On 20 March 2014 I realised I am pregnant and went to my doctor all excited. I was asked to continue my metformin and folic along with duphaston 10mg twice a day , ebexid tablet once in the morning and susten 200 twice a day. She said all the medicine would stop after 90 days.
I went for my first ultrasound yesterday. The baby was fine. But she did not do any blood works etc...she said everything is fine continue the medicines and added a zincovit iron tablet to the list. I find it hard to have the tablets as my morning sickness has not subsided. Im sick through out the day.Doxinate seems to be never working. Had iv fluids 2 times in the month. I have lost 5 kgs and im still not sure.
Is this dosage normal. Do I need a second consult from another doctor. I'm terrified. This is my first pregnancy.

Brief Answer:
USG REPORT IS QUITE GOOD. FOLLOW ADVICE.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for uploading ultrasound scan report.
1) Your ultrasound scan report is QUITE GOOD with SINGLE LIVE FETUS of 12 to 13 weeks and Fetal Heart Rate is absolutely NORMAL. No need to worry much.
You should undergo QUADRUPLE TEST (bet 15-20 weeks) and TIFFA scan (bet 18-22 weeks) to rule out gross fetal anomaly. Kindly, consult with your doctor regarding this.
2) You should continue above medicines as per your doctor's prescription. These are much needed for proper growth and development.
Nausea and vomiting will gradually decrease after 16 weeks in most pregnant women. However, you can follow these advise to improve the condition.
a) Eat small, frequent meals and snacks throughout the day so your stomach is never empty. Protein foods are mostly preferable instead of large carbohydrate.
b) Avoid lying down soon after eating (especially on your left side), as this can slow your digestion.
c) Keep simple snacks, such as crackers, by your bed. When you first wake up, nibble a few crackers and then rest for 20 to 30 minutes before getting up.
Snacking on crackers may also help your feel better if you wake up nauseated in the middle of the night.
d) Try to avoid foods and smells that trigger nausea. If that seems like almost everything, it's okay to eat the few things that do appeal to you for this part of your pregnancy, even if they don't add up to a perfectly balanced diet.
e) Try to eat food cold or at room temperature, because food tends to have a stronger aroma when it's hot.
f) Avoid fatty foods which take longer time to digest. Also steer clear of spicy, acidic, and fried foods, which can irritate her digestive system. It might help to stick to bland foods.
g) Brushing teeth properly and rinse out mouth after each eating. Try drinking fluids mostly between meals. You can take fruit juice or carbonated drink.
h) Drink plenty of water through out the day (2.5-3 lit daily). If you have been vomiting a lot, try a sports drink that contains glucose, salt, and potassium to replace lost electrolytes.
i) Watch for non-food triggers, too. A warm or stuffy room, the smell of heavy perfume, a car ride, or even certain visual stimuli, like flickering lights, might trigger your nausea. So might changing positions too quickly. Avoidance of triggers can become an important part of your treatment.
j) You must take or go for fresh air. In addition, you must take Doxylamine and Pyridoxine combined medicine (like DOXINATE PLUS- 2 tabs at bed time).
Hope, it helps for your information. Kindly, close the discussion if you don't have any other query.
Wish your good health and successful motherhood.
