Brief Answer:
Alcohol withdrawal symptoms

Detailed Answer:
Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries

I can understand your problem. Alcohol is a brain depressant substance and continuous long terms intake of alcohol causes change in receptors levels and if it is stopped suddenly then withdrawal symptoms may occur. In most of healthy individuals with no heavy intake the symptoms occur in mild to moderate grade like acute onset restlessness, insomnia, craving of alcohol, tremors, mood swings, irritability etc.

These symptoms usually reduce by taking proper rest, by avoiding any activating substance like tea/coffee for a day, and by remaining in cool, calm and dark room. In some individuals more severe symptoms like confusion, agitation, hallucinations etc can be seen. In individuals with high intake Seizures (also called as RUM FITS) may be observed, which can progress to alcohol withdrawal delirium. Most of these symptoms are observed in 12-72 hours period and only in rare individuals severe withdrawal symptoms persist beyond that period.

So as you have planned to quit alcohol cold turkey and you are a healthy 43 years old male, as per my opinion the symptoms would occur in mild grades, though I can comment with certainty if you can provide me details about your alcohol use in follow up question. Like how much amount do you take daily? Which form of alcohol you are using? Have you ever tried any other substance along with alcohol? If there is any history of seizures in you? If you ever tried to quit alcohol for even a day or two?

Please provide me details as per your convenience so that I can comment with certainty.

Thanks, hope this helps you. Take care
