Question: why is vesicare prescribed for? It was prescribed ten years ago by my previous Doctor. I felt I was urinating too often. My current Doctor did not take me off of it, I want to know should I question my doctor further.

Brief Answer:
Solifenacin

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Welcome to HCM.
Thank you for the query.
I understand your concern.

Vesicare contains an Antimuscuranic class of drug called Solifenacin. It is given for Overactive bladder (ex. frequent urination, Urinary incontinence.). It reduces muscle spasm of bladder musculature and there by reduces tension on it. Muscle won't contract frequently. Thus relieving your symptoms.
It is usually given for longer duration.
Kindly discuss this with your doctor if you have any kind of side effects like blurring of vision, dryness of mouth, constipation, recurrent cough, frequent UTI etc.
Side effects of this drug is very less when you compare it to the big use.
If you don't have any of these symptoms you can continue this drug.

Hope you found this useful.

Regards.

Brief Answer:
Consult your treating doctor.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
welcome back.
Thank you for follow up query.

If you stop this medicine you will face same old frequent urination problem. Here the good effects weigh more than minor side effects. I think its better to continue.
No interactions have been observed between this drug and medicines given for hypertension and diabetes.
Solifenacin is contraindicated if you have narrow-angle glaucoma, Severe hepatic impairment,Hypersensitivity . Otherwise it can be continued.
But you need to discuss these issues with your treating doctor.

Hope this helps.
Take care, Bye.
