Question: what is a thyroid nodule, my left lobe of the thyroid demonstrate a dominant mixed solid and cystic nodule within the mid and lower portion measuring 3.2 x2.6 x 3.7 cm. is this Cancer ?

All nodules in Thyroid are not cancerous.
The best way to know the nature of the swelling is to get an FNAC (Fine needle aspiration cytology ).Most of the lesions are diagnosed with FNAC.
If it is inconclusive, then Biopsy can be done.
