Posted on Sat, 7 Jun 2014
Question: Hello Doctor,
Last when you recommended for a hysteroscopy. Yes, I need to go for the same. There were couple of things I wanted to know:
1. There is some white thing seen in my uterus, not polypoid, but something else, to be free from it doc suggested Hysteroscopy. Since my Embryo transfer has got delayed.
2. What is hysteroscopy, what does one do? remove the white thing or just take a piece & find out whats it?
3. What time of the cycle is hysteroscopy recommended?
4. Can we go for a HSG also along with hysteroscopy to check up if there is any hydrosalphinx fluid in the tubes?
Please advice. Looking forward to your response.
Thanks

Brief Answer:
Hysteroscopy

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Good to see you back.

1. Hysteroscopy is a procedure done under anesthesia between 5 to 11 days of menstrual cycle.

2. This is done to evaluate uterine cavity and see if there are polyp or fibroid etc..

3. If there is fibroid or polyp they can be removed on the spot.

4. White lining what you describe is not clear. It could be normal endometrium.

5. HSG can be done 2 days before hysteroscopy.

6. If you wish to go for checking hydrosalpinx laparoscopy during hysteroscopy is a better option than HSG alone.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

Hi Doc,

Thanks for the prompt response. We do not know what is that white thing. Its something other than the endometrium. But last we did a 3D scan, its said no polypoid. What could the white thing seen on the scan be? Can that be the fluid from the tubes?
