Brief Answer: fluconazole can be used if extensive Detailed Answer: HI, thanks for using healthcare magic The most common areas for candida infection are the vulvovaginal area, the mouth with possible extension to the esophagus and in between the folds of the body (in the axilla, the groin, under the breasts in women). If the infection is extensive and , as you indicate, infecting other members then oral treatment with fluconazole may be the best option. Fluconazole is considered first line treatment in persons with white cell counts that are not low (if low then it may indicate that the immune system is impaired) and persons with severe invasive candidiasis. The exact dose would vary according to the extent and area involved in the infection. It can be used in children as well but the dose would also be affected by the weight of the child. If the infection involves a limited area then your doctor may op to use topical medication instead of this oral treatment. I hope this helps, feel free to ask any additional questions
