What Is The Cause And Treatment For High Blood Sugar Levels?

Fasting-375, PP-517. She is also exhibiting symptoms of high sugar like frequent urination, feeling too thirsty too often, hair loss, insomnia. She has never taken any medications for diabetes and now with this much high sugar level I am confused as to how I should proceed with the treatment? What lifestyle changes and eating habits should be followed? Should I go for allopathic or ayurvedic treatment?
Diabetologist or endocrinologist consultation at the earliest...
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I went through your post. To be honest blood sugar readings such as that one is extremely high. It can cause serious complications rapidly without indications. Therefore there is a real need to see a doctor at the earliest.
As an allopathy doctor, my experience and expertise in the field of ayurveda is limited. But based on her symptoms, sugar values and the need to control it early, I recommend she contacts a diabetologist/endocrinologist at the earliest and gets treated. Further as I see she is on immunosuppresants which can interact with other agents, it is important that the doctor is experienced with drug interactions and I can't see an ayurveda expert being able to do that. Therefore its best she chooses a diabetologist and gets treated.
In the meanwhile, encourage her to drink plenty of fluids if she has no limb swelling/breathing difficulty; cut down sugar and high calorie food and fruits, start brisk walk as tolerated. You can also choose to obtain a personalised dietary advice after the diabetologist visit from a dietician which will allow her to modify diet and treat the current problem.
Hope I am clear.
Regards

Can you please suggest some Diabetologist or endocrinologist since I recently migrated to XXXXXXX and I have no idea as to which doctor I should consult.
Can you give me a location?
Detailed Answer:
If you can provide me a location, I can narrow down the search and list you some one if possible. Are you ok in visiting a multidisciplinary hospital and consult specialist?
Regards

Hi,
I am aware of Dr. Arpan XXXXXXX XXXXXXX a well known diabetologist and Endocrinologist who practices in that part of city. He practices as a consultant in Manipal Hospital (Old Airport Road) and at Shivajoyti Clinic near National Public School, 13th Main Indiranagar.
Second alternative is Dr. K V S XXXXXXX He practices at Diabetes Specialty Clinic and Diagnostic 830/A, 1st 'A' Main, BEML Road, Near XXXXXXX Matha Temple, New Thippasandra, XXXXXXX - 560075.
If you aren't able to get early appointment with these two doctor, you can walk into Manipal Hospital endocrinology department. One of the endocrinologist/diabetes will be on call every day and will be available to see new patients each day.
Hope this helped.

You may continue if you aren't able to get one of the above...
Detailed Answer:
I had a quick glance at Dr. XXXXXXX Kumar's profile. He seems to be a physician with diabetes expertise. He will be able to handle your mother current condition and treat her. As consulting doctor early is important in the context of very high blood sugar, I will suggest you to keep Dr. Kumar's appointment as a back up if you don't get one of the two endocrinologist's appointment today.
Hope I am clear. If you have no more questions, please close this discussion.
Good luck!!
