Brief Answer:
There several causes of
vomiting to be considered
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting on behalf of your daughter.
I am pleased to be able to assist you.
Faced with the fact that your daughter is experiencing only vomiting as symptom, it will be wise to rule out the most common causes of vomiting before considering a rare disorder such as cyclic vomiting syndrome(CVS) . CVS is characterized by episodes or cycles of
severe nausea and vomiting that last for hours, or even days, that alternate with intervals with no symptoms. Each episode of CVS is similar to previous ones, meaning the episodes tend to start at the same time of day, last the same length of time, and occur with the same symptoms and level of intensity. Although CVS can begin at any age, in children it starts most often between the ages of 3 and 7. There are often some triggers that can quickly be identified such as emotional stress/anxiety/panic attacks, colds, allergies,
sinus problems, and the flu can also set off episodes in some people. Maybe your daughter can identify, but if she can't do not worry. Other reported triggers include eating certain foods such as chocolate or cheese, eating too much, or eating just before going to bed, hot weather, physical exhaustion,
menstruation, and
motion sickness can also trigger episodes.
I can not entirely dismiss the fact that your daughter might be suffering from CVS but it will be wise to rule out most likely causes such as infection,
pregnancy,
GERD and others. Ones these are completely ruled, we can then conclude that your daughter is indeed suffering from CVS.
Treatment is multidisciplinary including medication, self-control, elimination/avoiding known triggers. You need to have your daughter get examined by a doctor who can run some essential tests, identify the cause/trigger and provide treatment. Any known cause will be treatment hence eliminating the vomiting.
Hope this helps and wish you the best
