What Is The Difference Between Genital Herpes And Linchen Planus ?
Thanks for posting your query
Genital Herpes is a viral infection transmitted sexually. The symptoms are small painful blisters filled with clear or straw coloured fluid found on penis, scrotum, anus, thighs and surrounding area.Along with that painful urination, itching, burning and lymph node enlargement may or may not be present. It can be detected by culture of the fluid from the blister and a PCR DNA test.
Lichen Planus is a skin disease that commonly affects tongue, oral cavity, inner wrist and forearm. It can affect genitals but not commonly. The appearance is purple reddish bumps on the skin and contain white scales like psoriasis at times. It is not contagious so cannot be transferred from someone. It can be diagnosed usually by just appearance and for confirmation skin biopsy can be done.
Herpes virus can stay in the body for whole life and frequent outbreaks are possible.Lichen usually resolves in average 4 years and may reoccur.
