Suggest Treatment For Small Rashes On Belly Spreading To Back

I started out with a small rash on one side of my belly. After growing and getting more itchy I was treated for Poison Ivy/oak, but it blistered and wept for two days so I was also swabbed for shingles. However I have had no pain - only intense itch. THe rash spread across my front and around to my back, but it ALSO (after 8 days) has left smaller "blister-y" rashes on various parts of my arms and legs which are SO itchy!! How and why is it spreading and what should I do? Neither my husband or three kids have been affected.....

Hello,

You are suggested not to touch, scratch or pick it. Take care of your hygiene, Be gentle with yourself. Wear soft cotton clothes. You should not use any harsh chemical beauty products rather use herbal products that are gentle for the skin. To prevent itching, apply ointment hydrocortisone on the affected area. It will reduce itching. Take antihistamine at bedtime. This will help to reduce allergic reaction and also help to reduce inflammation, soreness and discomfort.

You can take Acetaminophen after food if you have pain. It helps to control spread due to inflammation. The symptoms may be indicative of Jock itch. You can apply ointment clotrimazole on the area affected, it will help to clear the infection. If needed you can take a course of antifungal medicine orally. The infection should get cleared in a week or two. If resistant, get clinically examined by a dermatologist. You may need a course of corticosteroids.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
