What Is The Dosage Of Rabipur Vaccine For Dog Bite?
Question: Hi Doctor, I had a Rabipur vaccine for full dose(5 doses) completed 1 year 4 months back after suspecting of scratch by a stray dog. 3 Weeks back some stray dogs in our colony(some of the dogs are still alive after 3 weeks) were running behind me while walking at night in the street, so not sure if they had scratched or licked or bitten..There were no blood coming from anywhere nor i could find any bite marks..I have cleaned my legs with soap and have already taken 1 dose of booster vaccine a week back(2 weeks after the incident). Is it necessary to take more doses of Rabipur to be safe? Also, I had slight fever 3 days after taking the vaccine, so not sure if that is due to Rabipur.
Brief Answer:
Two doses required

Dear Mr XXXXXXX
In an individual who has taken full course post exposure prophylaxis vaccination, on any further future exposure only two doses of vaccination are needed. On the day of exposure and on the 3rd day. I would suggest you to get one more dose of vaccination. Some individual may experience slight fever which is just a small reaction and is not contraindication for further dose.
Do get back to me if you need any further assistance, will be glad to assist you.

Brief Answer:
Go ahead with 2nd dose
Detailed Answer:
Hi

Ideally it has to be taken on day 0 and day 3 following 5 he bite. You can definitely take it after a week also. It will act as booster dose.
