What Is The Half Life Of Percocet?

default
Posted on Sat, 20 Dec 2014
Question: Dear Doctors;
I was extremely impressed and thankful to your expert opinion toward the question I asked you several weeks ago pertaining to my urine testing with the pain management clinic I'm with. They claimed that I had failed the monthly test cuz there wasn't anything in my urine, and I explained to them that I had run out of my meds several days early because I had to use extra for several days that month when I had to move out of my office space.
Your answer was that it would stand to reason because percoset is 1/2 life, and
would be out of my system in 24 hours.
Well, they said it stays in your system for 72 hours. Is this true?
I do everything I can to stay religious to what they order me to do. I need these meds very badly for my lower back injury, and don't want to be cut off them before my surgery in a month or two.
Thank you so much- XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
These drugs ar usually out of the system within 48hours!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this difficulties that you have with your medications. It is really unfortunate that you have to deal with this.

The half life of percocet is very short when it comes to how long it can stay in the system and offer a good pain relief, averaging just about 6hours. However, it can be detected in urine for up to 1-2days after you stop taking the drug and rarely beyond that. Well, you have told the doctors the truth and you can only stand by it. make sure you do not change even a single line of your story. Tell them they were finished because of the same reasons you have advanced and that is it. What they choose to do is beyond you but I guess if they believe what you have told them about the reasons why it may not have been a positive result, then they would see that it is consistent with the literature. If they deny, it is simply because they are not believing you and not that this is not the right piece of information.

In all, stick to the same story line. That is the truth about and let them act on that information. Next time talk to the office when you run into such crisis and need more so that they can know you of course raised the possibility of such.

I hope this helps. I wish you well and thank you so much for using our services. Feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be..
