What Is The Ideal Dosage Of Potassium And Magnesium As A Therapy For PVCs?

default
Posted on Mon, 19 Jun 2017
Question: 1/ Could you tell me the dosage for potassium and magnesium as a therapy for PVCs? how does one determine the appropriate values? Frequency of lab tests?

2/ What is your opinion/recommendation regarding the more comprehensive genetic testing for different cancer potential? We have lymphome, small cell, large cell, esophageal cancer, and retroperineal sarcoma in our family history. Would it be of value in a practical sense to know if one is "predisposed"?

3/ What can be done for a non-painful migraine experience where one sees jagged lines, red lights, and triangles? They seem to pass within 1/2 hour without any other symptoms present but it would be lovely to avoid them.

Thank you,
doctor

Questions answered one by one.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concerns. Let me try to answer your queries one by one:

1. Before being able to suggest appropriate dosages I would need to know the exact nature of the problem. Could you please describe the complaints and upload the EKG report (preferably EKG tracing as well). Based on it I could guide you about the suggested doses as well as frequency of lab tests needed.

2. Since you have a family history of multiple types of cancers possibly genetic testing will identify certain cancer potentials. In other words you should directly know that you are 'predisposed' and need not undertake such expensive tests to know the exact loci in your genes where the vulnerabilities lie. This is because nothing can be done to eliminate those factors. What can be done is to develop the appropriate lifestyle changes so that you do not ultimately get the cancers you could be vulnerable to. Nevertheless, you could still feel free to go for the testing.

3. I think that you should be on regular medication to prevent such attacks. Beta blockers like metoprolol help in preventing such attacks. A neurological opinion would be helpful.

Let me know if I could help further.

Regards
