Of significant cardiomyopathy carry a poor prognosis?

Yes, poor prognosis
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for using Healthcaremagic to post your question.
I understand your concern.
Cardiomyopathy in itself, with or without heart failure, does carry a poor prognosis. I am very sorry to say that, whoever has this diagnoses (you or your loved ones).
Heart failure is one of the complications that makes the prognosis even worse.
I hope this answers your question.
Let me know if you need more clarifications.

His ejection fraction is 15.
Brief Answer:
Maybe not level 4 but still the prognoses is not easy
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for the follow up question.
Yes, the fact that he doesn't have symptoms at rest tells us that maybe he is not level 4.
Anyway, whatever level he is at, still the prognoses is very difficult and he should use all the medicines available to treat the heart failure and keep this problem under control as much as possible.
Hope this answers your question.

Like slowly its progressed. Does this mean the meds may not work properly?
Brief Answer:
The progression is unstoppable, we can just improve his quality of life.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
The stage 3 has a better survival but still it is a bad survival.
Then it is not up to us to determine how much the survival will be, because every person reacts differently and hopefully your father in law will do well.
The progression is unstoppable even if he will be using the best medicines available.
No medicine is better then the other, but it is important that he tries every class of medicine available until he finds the ones that work best for him.
I hope I answered your questions.
Let me know if you have other questions or concerns.

I see . In your experience would u say few years or less ?
Brief Answer:
80% live 5 years but when heart failure majority result in death
Detailed Answer:
Hello again,
The statistics show that the survival rates for this problem without a complication are 80% live 5 years and 63% live 10 years.
With the heart failure as a complication the majority will result in death.
Even though all will depend on many factors like how close he is to the doctors, how good is the health system where he lives, ect.
