What Is The Survival Rate When Diagnosed With Extensive Small Cell Lung Cancer?

Brief Answer:
yes she can
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query. I am sorry to know about your daughter.
Extensive sclc is a difficult disease, though some patients do well with chemo. Still, it is incurable. But I don't think we can say that 1-2 months or 6 months life is left. It can certainly be more, at least in some patients.
As it is extensive stage, I presume the radiation is to the brain. It is usually given if the patient had a good response to chemo. So if your daughter had a good response, this can be done.
In this kind of difficult to treat disease, taking second opinion is reasonable. Mayo has got a good oncology setup. So she can surely take second opinion there.
Hope this helps.

it is in the lymth nods in throat area. the pituitary gland is clean so far. there is nothing in brain.
Brief Answer:
still brain RT can be given
Detailed Answer:
In this scenario (assuming it is extensive stage), radiation is not given to throat or chest. It can be given to the brain (even if brain scans are normal) to prevent it from spreading to the brain.
You have not mentioned to which body part the doctors have suggested to give RT. I assumed it is to the brain as it is a standard recommendation.

Brief Answer:
then it must be limited stage, not extensive stage
Detailed Answer:
giving radical radiation to chest and neck is possible only in limited stage, not in extensive stage.
It will be better if they take the appointment now, before starting the radiation. To avoid unnecessary delays, all the records and scans should be taken along with the patient.
