Question: Dear Dr. I understand during tooth development mineralization and turnover takes place. What is the rates please? Iread somewhere mineralization is 100um but cant find anything for turnover?

As per your query mineralization rate during Enamel development is about 4 micrometer per day..

As far as turnover rate is concern, it depends commonly upon different factors like type of diet, exposure to acids (professional exposure) etc..
The turnover rate is therefore described in different settings and is however lesser that the rate of mineral deposition..

In general it is less than 3.5 micrometer per day.

I have one final point . In bone growth , turnover rate is high but normalizes after growth stops.

But above you mentioned the oppositie is true for teeth ( during teeth growth low turnover, afterwards high)

Kindly could you clarify in case i misunderstood

As per your query I would like to try and explain in a simplified manner..

Turnover rate is a difference between rate of mineralization and rate of demineralization..

So I want to explain you that during development stages mineral deposition is high as compared to mineral loss and overall process is active therefore turnover rate is high for all structures..

And as the development is complete it gradually reduces but keeps going on continuously throughout..
