L-arginine is being prescribed in pregnancy from the 2nd trimester onwards in order to ensure healthy growth of the foetus and to ensure that the growth is not compromised in cases of INTRA UTERINE GROWTH RESTRICTION.
It has been seen in studies that l-arginine have shown good results in IUGR cases and provide better nutritional provision to the foetus.
Though it is not necessary in all cases where high risk pregnancy is not suspected or diagnosed.
