Could Malformed Ear Be Related To Kidney Problems?
My son has a malformed external Left ear and was also diagnosed with hydronphrosis and IUGR. He is currently 5 weeks old. His pediatrician noted that the malformation of his ear could be related to the kidney problems. What kidney problems correlate to malformed ears and what is the likelihood of having both problems together?
Ear malformations are associated with an increased frequency of clinically significant structural renal anomalies. These include specific multiple congenital anomaly syndromes, Townes-Brocks syndrome (TBS), branchio-oto-renal (BOR) syndrome, among others. You should consult a pediatrician for further evaluation.
