What Should Be Done For Elevated Cholesterol Level?
Thanks for posting your query. I am trying to explain your reports.
First of all, your Renal Function Test (RFT) report is normal.
In Liver Function Test (LFT), there is slight raised level of total bilirubin & other liver enzymes. It may indicate some latent liver disease. Here, further health check up is needed to rule out underlying pathology if any.
In diabetes screen test, HbA1c & average blood glucose level are within borderline. Here, strict diet control & physical exercise are recommended to prevent future development of diabetes mellitus.
In addition, if you already have diabetes, then insulin or oral hypoglycemic drug therapy are to be continued along with above two measures to control blood glucose & prevent further complication. Please consult with your diabetologist regarding this.
In lipid profile, all blood parameters are moderately increased including cholesterol. It indicates hyperlipidemia and is mostly associated with diabetes. Hyperlipidemia is regarded as great risk factor for cardiovascular disease including hypertension due to influence of atherosclerosis. Here, you should consult with cardiologist for complete check up including heart condition with other investigation. Proper medication (like statin/ fibrates etc) is required to treat this condition.
Some general measures are quite helpful :
1) Take low calorie diet with complete avoidance of fatty/ junk/ fast food. Saturated fat & extra salt intake should be avoided completely. Proper diet chart should be maintained.
2) Do regular physical exercise to control body weight by means of jogging/ running/ treadmill. You may join in XXXXXXX for regular physical activity.
3) Try to avoid stress/ tension by regular yoga or XXXXXXX breathing exercise (20-30 times possibly).
4) Drink more water and eat fresh vegetables & low calorie fruits. Periodic BP check up and monitoring of other blood parameters are mandatory.
5) Dietary supplementation with fish oil & anti oxidants are used to reduce blood triglycerides level. Using plant sterol-containing products and ω3-fatty acids are quite beneficial in preventing cardiac disease.
6) Take adequate sleep with complete relaxation.
