Question: My wife is 27week pregnant and doing fine. I want to know as beyond this what would be the frequency of the ultrasound. The last ultrasound was done 6 weeks back for anomaly scan.
Brief Answer:
Usually every 6-8 weeks.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
The frequency of ultrasound scans is not fixed during pregnancy. It depends on the abnormalities detected on the previous scan. If the anomaly scan was normal and there is no complaint like abdominal pain or vaginal discharge or decreased fetal movements then usually ultrasound scan is recommended every six to eight weeks to monitor the growth of the fetus.
You can get another scan done at 27-28 weeks after consulting your treating obstetrician.

Thanks for your answer, i have anyways been advised a scan on week 30 which is a color doplor ultra sound. And yes everything is normal till now. In a normal case, what is the frequency of a ultrasound that is recommended in the last tri-mester.
Brief Answer:
Next scan at 36 weeks.
Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
After 30 weeks if everything goes well then you need to have next scan at 36 weeks. After that your wife will be asked to do daily fetal movement counts.
In case the baby shows lesser movements or there is any vaginal discharge or bleeding or there are high B.P. records then a repeat scan is advised as per the need.
Just before the pains start a repeat scan may be advised to rule out any cord around the baby's neck.
Hope my answer is helpful.
