What Tissue Shed After Taking Hormone Medication?
Question: Hi... I have just completed a fourth round of ivf. My pregnancy test was negative so I was instructed to stop sll hormone medications. Two days later my uterine lining began shedding. I expelled two clumps of greyish brown tissue on the second day. The larger of these two pieces measured approximately three centimeters. Both pieces were rubbery and solid in texture. They have been sent for histology... Can you please indicate what this tissue may be?

Hello, in my opinion this tissue is most probably part of endometrial lining which got thick and tenacious under the influence of progesterone which is routinely given after embryo transfer for luteal phase support.
It cannot be early abortion (fetal tissue) because size of embryo at 14-16 day post transfer is less than a centimeter.
Wait for histopathology report for conclusive evidence but there is nothing to worry.

I have had fertility treatment over the last four years... over various rounds i have achieved 6 fertilised eggs, four of which have progressed to blastocyst. I have been pregnant twice, miscarrying at week thirteen and week eight. I currently have one remauning frozen embryo. I am currently thirty eight years old. My most recent round was three weeks ago. Five eggs, two of which fertilised, one replaced on day three, not resulting in a pregnancy, and one bladtocyst currently frozen. There was talk of the use of donor eggs during this most recent round. I am aware of the impact age has on your fertility, but my question is, is it purposeful to continue rounds of ivf with my own eggs given that they still fertilise and continue on to day five?... I realise there are many factors, and nothing is a given, but am i correct in holding into hope that a wuccessful pregnancy using my own eggs is a possibility?

It runs high constantly. Simple activities such as walking to the mail box or attempting to have a shower raise the bpm as high as 152. I have been treated by a cardiologist who is not able to offer an explanation. She referred me onto an endochronoligist. He noted slightly abnormal thyroid activity, but did not believe this to be the reason for the constant tacacardia. Is this something you have seen happen this early in pregnancy before?

Hello XXXX, I totally understand your anxiety and inclination towards bearing child with your own genetic material.
As you well said that eggs are still being produced and fertilized but not resulting in pregnancy or if pregnancy is there it is aborting now and then.
This is clearly suggestive of poor egg quality and according to international guidelines one should opt for donor egg.
But considering your desire for your own genetic material I would suggest you to opt for pregenetic diagnosis (PGD) and endometrial study.
These are a little costly but might give you a conclusive reason for failure of implantation.

- abnormal thyroid hormone levels
- anxiety.
Since you never had these tachycardia episodes in non pregnant state, the most probable reason is anxiety which is quite common in pregnant patients with IVF pregnancy.
Just relax and think positive always as whatever destiny has in its fold will be revealed with time and you can only try for the best.
