Eszopiclone is used to treat the patient having symptoms of insomnia that is difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep. Eszopiclone is in a class of medications called hypnotics. It works by slowing activity in the brain to allow sleep.
The drug is considered safer as compared to classic hypnotics the benzodiazepines due to less potential for dependence.It should be tapered slowly before stopping it.
