Question: Significance of typhoid vaccine. My ward has turned 2 1/2(2 years and 6 months) today and I have not got him vaccinated for typhoid yet. Given the typhoid vaccines are effective only in 66 percent of cases upto the age of 3, shall I go for the vaccination now, if yes what type of typhoid vaccine is recommenced here ? Side affects of this vaccine ? Does it require booster dosage or it is only one time activity ?

Brief Answer:
Typhoid vaccination is very important and you may get him vaccinated now

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for choosing this platform

Typhoid vaccine helps in protection from typhoid and every child should get vaccinated as in XXXXXXX typhoid is very common below 15 years of age.
In market there are two types of typhoid vaccine. First is polysaccharide vaccine and another is conjugate vaccine.
Recent trial have shown conjugate vaccine superior to the polysaccharide one. It can be taken till 18 years of age and is found to be even upto 100% effective.
Only single dose of conjugate vaccine is needed and it is said that it provides very prolonged immunity.Cojugate vaccines are Pedatyph and Typbar TCV.
Side effects are very minimal like fever, myalgia, local swelling, itching etc. Very rarely allergic reaction may occur.

I hope this helps.
