When Can Influenza Vaccine Be Given To An 8 Month Old?
Question: Hi,
My baby is 8 months old. we are following the immunization schedule given by the hospital.
I have doubt regarding Influenza vaccine. When is a right time to give the vaccine to the baby. Can you please specify the time frame (as in starting from what age till what age) and number of dosage recommended.
thanks,

Brief Answer:
Not needed for normal infants
Detailed Answer:
Hi
I understand your concerns but do not worry. Influenza vaccine is needed only in high risk infants or children. this includes children with chronic lung, heart, kidney or liver disease, with immunodeficiency syndromes or children on long term salicylate therapy. For these kids, 2 doses are given anytime after 6 months of age at 4 weeks interval and then yearly dose is given for continued effect.
Hopefully it will be of help.
Take care
