When Should The IPV Vaccine Be Given To An Infant?
We have got his vaccination done on 11.07.2016 (DTwP1/DTaP1,HiB1,HeP B-2,Pneumococcal vaccine 1, Rotavirus vaccine1)
Doctor advised us to give IPV1 from government hospital within a week as IPV is only given by government hospitals.
But now when I have called government hospital, then they are saying either u would have given all vaccine on a single day or now u have to wait for at least a month before any other vaccine is given to baby....otherwise the effect of both the vaccines will be nullified & will not serve any purpose
Both the points from doctors are contradictory....Kindly suggest if I can give the IPV vaccine to my baby now or I will have to wait for a month?
Also if I have to wait for a month....will that have any negative effect on baby's health?
wait for a month
Detailed Answer:
hi
thanks for the query
i can understand your concern
You have to all the vaccines within 24 hrs ie in a single day. Nowadays IPV is not available anywhere in XXXXXXX , so instead of that you can go for inj Pentaxime. its 5 in 1 painless inj , which protect your child against diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis ,poliomyelitis and against invasive infections due to the Haemophilus influenzae type bbacterium (meningitis, blood infections, etc.) It is indicated in children from the age of 2 months.
So need not worry much , if IPV is not given in this month you can give it on next month alomg with other vaccines. You cannot give any vaccines in between the doses. You have to give the gap of 4 weeks.because body requires a gap of 4 weeks to produce antibodies against specific vaccine given(that is protection).
Thank you
Take care
