Question: What is the charge for the information?
Would want to know which High blood Pressure mediations do NOT work thru the brain. I have depression and many high blood pressure medications block my antidepressant (Limbitrol). I have been to the Doctor's and he asked me what Blood Pressure medication I would want to try.

Brief Answer:
Suggest Telmisartan for your BP

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear. Thanks for giving me an opportunity for addressing your query.

I am happy to hear that you enjoy good health.Almost all blood pressure medications invariably enter brain and regulate the blood pressure (acting on important area/center in the brain regulating BP). This is crucial for any drug to control blood pressure.

Good news is that, not every BP pill will interact with your antidepressant pill (Limbitrol). I were to suggest Telmisartan or combination (add a second drug if required like amlodipine) depending on your blood pressures.

Both can be safely taken with Limbitrol though they cross and act on the brain for different reasons and on different places in the brain.

Hope this helps you. Suggest to start the treatment as soon as possible without further delay. All the best.

Thank you. What is your opinion of Cardura? I have used Amlodipine in the past, but the side effects, (hair loss, very dry mouth and eyes) where unpleasant.

Brief Answer:
Suggest a diuretic/Telmisartan

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear.Thanks for writing back.

Telmisartan (all Angiotensin Receptor Blockers-ARB's) are the first line of drugs with/without diuretics(hydrochlorthiazide or Chlorthalidone) for treatment of hypertension. This is my choice and is supported by evidence based medicine. They donot interact with your limbitrol.

Would suggest not to use amlodipine if the side effects are troubling.Cadura is third line drug and is often added when the rest donot control or achieve target blood pressures.
