Why Is Paxil Prescribed While Trying To Wean Off Of Vicoprofen?

In addition- I asked to speak with NP regarding an antidepresent- also asked if they would just release a small amount of pain meds for the month. I have also taken ambien for over 8 years, and never abused it or had any problems with. In addition I do take concerta for ADD AFTER BEING DIAGNOSED AT AGE 45. i ALSO USE PROVENTIL INHALER A FEW TIMES A WEEK AS i HAVE QUITE SMOKING RECENTLY.
jUST INFORMED BY PHARMACY TODAY THAT MY PHYSICIAN IS CANCELLING MY AMBIEN, WHICH WAS NEVER DISCUSSED YESTERDAY- aND ALSO HAVE SEEN WHERE ABRUPT CESSATION OF THIS MEDICATION CAN BE HARMFUL. I know all Docs are trying to bring new lifestyles and I am not against this, but to suddenly make a decision that could augment the physiology and metabolic - not to mention the mental state of a 60 year old patient- Seems Obama like with his little pen! I do drink 2 glasses of alcohol per day- Have for 20 years- Just quit smoking and also watching my food intake- not obese-
Any suggestions on why Paxil was just prescribed with no counseling? Why they ordered Lib something patches for pain that were not approved by insurance compay- Any help woould be appreciated Thank you-
I appreciate any insights for this quandry- I am more and more convinced that the Obama rape of the medical system and benefits for those of us who have always carried our own insurance- and now have over $3000 deductible and the cessation of drug therapy used for years- is not paying as well and that is where the answer is. I am scheduled for a colonoscopy that will be somewhere in area of $2000- Not to mention all added costs for anesthesia, blood and biopsy testing- la-la-la
So- do you think the elimination of Ambien is warranted when I have a prescription that is dated 6-14 to 6-15? And what is up with the elimination of narcotic pain relief? PS Do not want to be in some club that renews every 3 months-
Thank you-

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for choosing health care magic for posting your query.
I have gone through your question in detail and I can understand what you are going through.
The steps followed by your treating doctor are very unreasonable. Every step taken by doctor should be done with prior information to the patients. Neither the pain medications, nor the sleep medications should be withdrawn abruptly. May be he thought to manage withdrawal symptoms with paxil. But he has to taper the dose before stoppage of medication. You should discuss with your doctor the possibility of withdrawal from these medicines and how to manage them and how does he want to manage it? If possible take it from him in writing so that you have a proof of what has been done to you. You may seek legal help in this regard.
Hope I am able to answer your concerns.
If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you.
If not, you may close the discussion and if possible you may rate the answer for me, so that I get a good feedback.
