Let me explain you the basic first.

When ever a man gets excited the blood flow the penile veins increase, the veins are filled with blood and you get an erection. Penis is made of smooth muscles. This entire event takes place under the influence of male hormones.

Once erect, because of contact stimulation the erection is maintained. It is the brain that is playing a important role in maintaining erection then anything else. Means you have to feel the excitement to have erection.

Any form of exercise like plank or other helps you to stay fit and healthy. In general they help as a part of over all well being.

There are no direct effects. Unless you are physically fit, you will not be able to perform the act properly. Here comes the role of any exercise.
