Will Fibroid Near Uterus Affect The Baby During Pregnancy?

tertiary care hospital booking
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, thanks for trusting health care magic.
Yes the size of fibroid is a bit on bigger side and because of the fact that it grows more in pregnancy there are chances of various problems like abortion and preterm delivery.
But these are only little more than in normal pregnancy and are usually well tackled by simple measures like rest and adequate water intake.
Most difficult but less frequent complication is Red degeneration of fibroid which presents as fever and severe abdominal pain.
So cornerstone of management in her pregnancy will be to consult a tertiary care institute which has all the facilities for the mother and child care.
Certain important things you should do are -
- take good rest in night time and at least 2 hours in day time
- take all medicines as prescribed and in case of any difficulty visit your gynecologist immediately
- regular ultrasound
- good nutrition and especially water, adequate water intake will help you to prevent many complications
- no exertion at all, and don't ignore even slight symptoms of pain or discomfort in the abdomen.
All in all I want you to take good care of yourself and not to feel anxious about the fibroid but understand the problems so that you are armed enough to deal with them physically and emotionally.
Hope for the best.
Regards
Dr Manisha

I heard that fibroids are common , it will not have much impact during pregnancy.
As of now I dont have any symptoms except very low cramps in my lower abdomen.
Pls clarify.
preterm delivery and abortion can occur
Detailed Answer:
There are increased chances of abortion and preterm delivery but only if the size of fibroid grows enormously which is not very common but you should know the potential problems so as to recognize the symptoms and take then seriously.
Just hope for the best.
