Thank you. What are the syntoms of a XXXXXXX gland infection also can ypu have an infection but no cyst ?
Brief Answer:
Symptoms of infection would subside with antibiotic treatment
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Symptoms are dyspareunia (painful sexual intercourse), urinary frequency and dysuria (pain on passing urine).
Infection of skene's glands can be ascertained by eliciting tenderness on palpating anterior vaginal wall against pubic bone on either side of urethra.
Yes you can have an infection in there even without a cyst formation.

Is it possible the infection could be caused by anerobic bacteria because when i went metronidzole for a week the pain got a bit better but not completely.
Brief Answer:
Metronidazole is not a treatment line for paraurethral gland infection
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Metronidazole is usually not part of treatment line for paraurethral gland infection. However, if there are other genital complaints like vaginal discharge e.g due to suspected bacterial vaginosis, metronidazole is then added to other oral antibiotics to cover for anerobic organisms.

Thank you. My doctor switched me to septra because the cipro gave me oral thrush. Will this still be a good antibiotic. Also could the parautheral infection be caused by yeast ?
Brief Answer:
I would have continued with cipro
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
I think you should have continued with cipro. Thrush can be managed with Topical and/or Oral antifungals.
Sulphamethoxazole+trimethoprim is not a choice drug for paraurethral gland infection
Yeast is not commonly implicated as a cause for paraurethral gland infection.

Is it okay to take after taking a septra 2 hours ago ?
Brief Answer:
Continue cipro as adviced.
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Can take the dose tonight.
There is no interaction as such between the two but it is not advisable to take 2 different antibiotics together and moreover since septra is not indicated for your condition.
