Hello,

You are suffering from the soreness of the vagina after sex. You have history of having PCOS. You are experiencing pain and burning sensation in the vagina. Your symptoms are indicative of vaginismus and vulvar vestibulitis. You are suggested to get clinically examined and evaluated by a gynecologist.

You are suggested to get vulvar / vaginal swab test to rule out bacterial, viral and yeast infection. It can be caused due to subclinical papillomavirus infection, yeast infection, chronic recurrent candidiasis or bacterial vaginosis. Subclinical papillomavirus infection, candidiasis, PID, PCOS is treated with antibiotics / antivirals.

Vaginal vaginismus is treated with physical therapy, sex therapy and counselling, vaginal dilators, pelvic floor and desensitization exercises, and antibiotics/antivirals if detected with infection. You are suggested to take care of your hygiene. Use lubricants while having sex. Take vitamin E supplements to avoid dryness of the vagina.

Stay adequately hydrated, take water and fluids in adequate quantity. Do not rush into penetrative sex, go for a longer forepay till you are On and wet. Blood tests and imaging tests are needed.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
