either it could be acute sinusitis or allergic rhinitis or common cold.
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Welcome to health care magic,
I have read your query and understand your concern,
Orange snot from the nose could be either acute sinusitis or allergic rhinitis or common cold.
Sinusitis can be treated with medicines like antibiotics, decongestant, antihistamines and anti inflammatory drugs.
The orange liquid seems to be blood mixed with mucus or fibrinogen from the clots. You should watch for hard crusts formed in the nose as too much use of decongestants could also cause dryness and crusts in the nose. so, I suggest you to use NASIVION drops, one drop every 4 hours in each nostril to clear the crusts. This will also stop the orange liquid or snot oozing.
Surgery is not a must for everyone. But if sinusitis does not reduce with conservative medicines ,and if sinusitis is recurring very frequently, may be 3 episodes in 6 months then we advise for surgery.
And if the sinusitis is associated with nasal polyp, nasal mass, fungal sinusitis then also surgery is a must. Surgery for sinusitis is a endoscopic surgery.
In this surgery mainly we clear the sinuses and provide good ventilation for the sinuses. We do have to cut the soft tissue, de-bride, drain and then clear the sinuses.
It's a day care procedure, patient can go home the same day. Once the surgery is done,, there are very less chances for sinusitis to recur.
In my opinion if this is your first episode of sinusitis then you can wait and watch. If you are a chronic patient of sinusitis then I suggest you choose surgery.
Hope this information will be helpful.
