11 Yr Old Complains Of Chest Pains, Cannot Breathe And Collapsed. Can Anxiety Be The Cause ?
Hello Dr. Christensen. My 11 year old daughter complained of chest pains, could not breathe and she collapsed. When EMS arrived to our home she had come to. They checked her heart and everything and said that she was fine. We took her to the doctor later that morning and they took blood and gave her a chest xray . All of this was yesterday. We are waiting for the lab results. Also the doctor stated that she may have experienced anxiety . Could that be so? Thanks so much
Hello,
The first important thing is whether this is her first episode?or recuurent episodes she have?
Look during last 15 days is there any change in your daily routine especially of her. Also was there any apparent stressor before she developed symptoms.....and especially was there history of admission to hospital or any medical care given to her when she was 2 to 5 year old? all these questions will help to diagnose her. Also see this may be a conversion disorder in which underlying mental conflicts get converted into such symptoms.hope the answer will be helpful for her.
thank you.
