12 Year Old With Fever And Chest Congestion. On Cefexime. Can I Give Meftal After Giving Crocin?
my daughter is 12 yrs, has been having fever and chest congestion for the past 5 days, is on cefexime 200 mg for the past 4 days as prescribed by the doctor, but for the past two days has had very high temperatures, between 100.7 to 102.4 with chills in the night which is not coming down. gave crocin , but fever returns within 2 hours. can i give meftal within 2 hours of having given crocin?
Hi
You may give Meftal after 1 hour of crocin.
Crocin 500mg every six hours with 1 or 2 doses of Meftal in a day will do.
Be careful not to overdose both.
If fever persists you might have to get chest x ray, complete blood count done. based on which further decisions can be taken.
Give her plenty of fluids.
Hope my answer helps you.
wish your daughter a speedy recovery.
hi
your daughter seems to have viral fever which responses to oral antipyeretics for short time, better you do one thing give her crocin 500mg tab when the temperature is 99.5-101 f and you can give 10 ml of meftal p syrup if temp is >101 f .you can give both of the medicines alternatively with the gap of 4 hrs along with Luke warm water sponging may helps to reduce the temperature.
any how if fever is not relapsing even after 2 days better to go for blood investigations like CBP, CRP, MP,and urine analysis to rule out urinary tract infection.
