14 Weeks Pregnant, Headache, Cold, Blood Clot From Nose After Taking Warm Bath. Normal?
I am a 28 years old. I am currently 14 weeks pregnant. I had a horrible head cold that started about 2 weeks back. I am feeling much better now however I have had horrible headaches for the past few days I have taken Tylenol (being pregnant I am limited on what I can take). I decided since I wasn't seeing any relief from the Tylenol I would take a warm bath to see if it helped. after my bath I felt some better and was leaning over to wrap my hair in a towel and clear water began pouring from my nose. I thought that was weird but brushed it off but then a large (about the size of a nickel) blood clot came out of my nose is this normal or do I need to call my ob or got to my family doctor or ???
Hello, This is not normal. You need to consult your family doctor right away. It could be that the cold or rhinitis may have caused the epistaxis and this might have given rise to the blood clot. In pregnancy as the tissue vascularity is more, any inflammation has more reaction. A local examination, an antihistamine drops and antibiotic may be needed if infection is seen. Also, please call your obstetrician and inform the same. You may need to check the blood counts once. Meanwhile take rest by holding your head high with the nose pointing upward to prevent further bleeding. The nose can be clipped if bleeding is seen. Hope you find this information useful. Take care.
