16 Year Old Had Wisdom Teeth Removed. Area Is Swollen And Oozing Pus With Blood. Rinsing With Peroxide
My 16 year old son had his wisdom teeth removed five weeks ago and no problems until this morning. One of the sites is swollen (now like half a ping pong ball) and oozing pus and blood. The site is one of the teeth that had to be cut out. It is painful for him and he has been rinsing with both peroxide and warm salt water. He never even needed any pain meds beyond ibuprofen or Advil. Thoughts? Is this outside the norm of getting food in the socket?

Hello, Welcome to health care magic forum. From the details mentioned,i suspect hematoma has developed at the site of traumatic tooth extraction. I would advice you to apply cold packs frequently on the socket. Irrigate the socket with Iodine solution and apply Eugenol,Lignocainehydrochloride as well as Povidine iodine solution into socket. Usually Amoxycillin has to be administered complete course. Maintain oral hygiene well. Avoid stressful job, take rest. Hope this helps.
