16 Year Old, Recurring Knee Pain For Years, More Painful Before Periods. Cause?

I'm a female and 16. I can remember having knee pain since I was 10 or 11. I'm about 5'9 and 250lbs. I know my weight is probably a factor. Could it be anything else? The knee pain is on and off. It will last either all day or 30 minuets. And it gets really painful right before I start my period. Nothing seems to help. I've started a diet and hopefully once I lose a few lbs the pain will decrease a bit. But I'd still like to know what the other causes may be. Thank you!
