16 Year Old Suffering From Benign Tumor. MRI Done. Is Surgery Required? Can I Work Normally Again?

Hello..
I'm a teenager 16 years old and i have a benign tumor in the ankle of the right foot
MRI Report says:
-Technique-
Plate 1: Coronal T1 & STIR WI
Plate 2: Axial T1 & T2 WI
Plate 3: Axial STIR WI
Plate 4: Sagittal T2 & STIR WI
-Findings-
~Maintained tibio-fibular, tibio-talar and subtalar articular relations
~The postero-lateral aspect of the tibial plafond showed areas of MR signal alteration measuring 2x1.8x1.5 cm in maximum dimensins. The lesion displays low signal in T1 & mixed low & intermediate signal in T2 & STIR series. The lesion surrounded by perifocal edema displays bright signal in T2 & STIR series.
~The lesion showed no associated soft tissue component or pathological fracture line.
~Normal course, caliber and signal of the tendon crossing the ankle joint.
~Intact medial and lateral collateral ligament as well as the sinus tarsi elements.
~Minimal ankle joint effusion
~Intact Achilles tendon.
~No MR evidence of plantes fasciitis.
-Opinion-
~Benign looking eccentric bony lesion of the posterolateral aspect of the lower tibial shaft?? Chondroid etiology (chondroblastoma) rather than spontaneous osteonecrosis for close follow up.
~Minimal ankle joint effusion
so i just wanted to know if i will need a surgery
and Is it possible to walk normally again?
Thanks

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,
Welcome at HCM.

I have read your query.Your bone tumor should be first confirmed by biopsy, after that it should be treated by surgery.Surgery is essential to keep you walking or it will damage articular surfaces of your ankle.

Hope this will help you.

With best wishes.
