17 Month Old Child Had Fall, Hit Mouth, Bleeding, Blood Clot On Bottom Lip. Treatment?

Hello, my son is 17 months old and he fell and hit his mouth. After cleaning off the blood from his lip, I see that there is a blood clot on his bottom lip. He sucks his finger and even with this swollen blood clot, he is continuing to do so. What should I do for pain or discomfort...and of course, the healing process?

Injuries are common in toddler. Please check if he is hurt elsewhere? If he has just fallen while running or playing on ground and hit mouth without head injury- just apply ice over part. This will stop bleeding and help him comfort in pain. For pain you may give paracetamol in dose of 15mg/kg/dose. Usually lip injury heals fast. If he continues to bleed from lip- consult your child specialist.
Please let me know if you need further help.
With warm regards
