17 Months Baby, Having Diarrhea, Vomiting, Sore Near To Anus Which Is Open And Bleeding. Should I Meet Doctor Immediately?

I have a child that is 17 months old. He has had diarrhea for seven days with a few incidents of vomiting. The pediatrician has asked us to continue treating with the BRAT diet and no milk products. Tonight I noticed an open sore right next to my child's anus. It's open and lightly bleeding. Should I take him to immediate care? I talked to the pediatrician on Friday and they felt that things would be okay over the weekend. I know this sore is very painful for my son.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hello,

Your son has diarrhea with a perianal rash/sore. Considering that your pediatrician has stopped milk products it suggests he/she must be susupecting lactose intolerance. Diarrhea due to lactose intolerance is known to cause bad perianal excoriation/sore. Once milk products are stopped your child will stop passing acidic stools and this will give time for the sore to heal. In the meantime keep applying some cream for perianal rash like siloderm or rash free cream.

Hope that helps.
Wishing you good luck.

Regards,
Dr. Preeti
