18 Month Old Has Vaginal Opening Bright Red, Stretched, Right Edge Looks Torn And Jagged. Vaginitis ?
I noticed that my 18 mth old has changes to her vagina. I suspect sexual abuse. Her vagina used to be small & tightly closed with no rashes, redness etc. Now she won't let us touch her & screams and full on tantrums. The labia are normal. When you pull them apart only the vaginal opening is bright red and the hole is stretched to about an inch so you can see inside. The right edge looks torn and jagged. No odor or discharge. I'm hoping its vaginitis but don't think so. I've seen her privates millions of times. It's NEVER been like this.
From what you have described, chances of sexual abuse looks more likely.
Simple vaginitis, which is not seen commonly in small kids, presents with discharge, itching, pain etc. But never gets torn and stretched.
It`s better to get your daughter seen by a Doctor, get her examined fully and have her treated. If sexual abuse is confirmed, the offender has to found out and necessary actions taken immediately.
Hope my answer helps. Wish your daughter good health.
You need to take her to her doctor right away to have her looked at and then likely reported to Child Protective Services if it looks like she was molested, especially if you are suspicious of anyone she has been with who might have touched her inappropriately. It could still just be irritation and kids her age are known to insert objects into their vagina but usually not without some pain and eventually a discharge from infection occurring pretty quickly.
