2 1/2 Yrs Old Having Viral Fever, Not Reducing After Calpol, Meftal, Regular Sponging. Advise ?

my child aged 2 1/2 yrs , 14 kg having viral fever , i adminster him calpol 250, 4 ml every 4 hours but fever is not reducing. I also given him maftal P syrup at 1400 hrs which worked for some time but now the fever is around 101 degree and also he had a history of convulsions during high fever. I am doing regular sponging also. but still the fever is not subsiding. please advise whether I can give anather dose of maftal p now

Hi

Give Calpol syrup four times ie every six hrs.
Paracetamol is the safest drug for fever. Dose is 15mg/kg/dose given every 6 hrs. But you are giving in a higher frequency, that will result in higher dosage per day.
If fever is not subsiding and since there is a risk of febrile convulsions, you may give meftal say twice a day. Dose of meftal (100mg/5ml) 3.5 ml per dose. Make sure atleast 1 hr gap is there between calpol and meftal administration. Do not give meftal too frequently.
And if your doctor has advised you to give some medicines for convulsions during fever, you have to give that too.
