2 Year Old Having Fever, Leg Pain. Medication?

Hi, My 2 year old daughter has had a 102.5 fever taken under arm last night, treated with Motrin and fever dropped but she complains of leg pains. she slept off and on, waking several times crying about her legs. this morning when she woke there was no fever, but about 4 pm today fever came back to 102, and she is complaining of leg pain again. I gave her Motrin and fever is down again, and she is eating Pedia-lite Popsicles. Her legs are still bothering her though. Any suggestions?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Dear parent,
Fever with leg pain has to be monitored closely, because some times it may lead to post viral peripheral neuropathy.Motrin is not advisable in small child, better use Paracetamol in the dose of 15mg/kg of bodyweight/4-6 times per day.Consult your paediatrician clinical examination and management.

Pediatrician Dr. E Venkata Ramana's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.

Your child seems to have a Viral illness with leg cramps.

Some times Myositis which is a Viral illness presents with high grade fever with leg pains and calf tenderness.

Continue Motrin in prescribed dosage for fever and leg pains.

Rest will give relief from the leg pains.

Give him plenty of oral fluids, Pedialyte sips to maintain hydration.

Physical examination by the doctor is important and with basic investigations if necessary.

Therefore consult your Pediatrician for further management.

Hope I have answered your query.

Regards.
