2 Year Old With Fever And Wheezing. Reddish Urine. Urine Test Showing Presence Of Blood And Protein. What Is Causing This?

Hi Doctor, Few days back my 2 yr old son got high fever with little bit of wheezing. After 3-4 days of fever he started passing urine in red color without any pain, we went for blood and urine tests after consulting local Doctor. Urine report says protine ++,blood ++++. when he had fever, we used paracetomol, meftal syrup on high fervers, and started using Advent syrup( antibiotic ). Doctor told to wait and see if it can be settled by itself. After 2 days fever reduced and he is paasing urine normally. After that, we went for urine routine tests again and everything is normal now. Just curious to know why he passed urine in red color and why it had protien and blood in it. -Venkat

Hi
Some times fever may be associared with hematuria(blood in urine). If it is associated with edema of body, high BP and decraesd urine output and altered abnormal kidney function tests then it is abnormal.As you repeated urine is normal nothing to worry but your child should be in follow up with Pediatritian for for complete urine examination atleast once in a year to see the recurrence
