20 Month Old With A Lump On The Neck After A Fall. Worried About Cancer

Hi my 20 month old fell down a flight of stairs. Two days later, I discovered a small pea size ball under his skin on the back of his neck at the bottom beginning of his hairline. What could this be...is this due to his fall I have read a lot of scary things online about a type of cancer I'm terrified to go to the docs tomorrow

Hi,

After a fall child should have incurred a bump quite immediately on the area of hit on the scalp due to formation of haematoma which is soft to firm swelling due to burst of scalp blood vessel.

The small pea size lump which appeared 2 days later is most likely to be a lymph node which is related to common upper respiratory tract infection, ear infection or scalp infection.

So i guess you can relax .Cancer is not at all a possibility keeping the history you gave in view.

Take care.
