25 Weeks Pregnant. Ultrasound Done. What Are The Chances Of Vaginal Delivery? Any Precautions To Be Done?
Hi,
I am 25 weeks running , and this is my second pregnancy and on last 19 week I had a ultrasound which reported that I have placenta which is posteriorly reaching above internal os with grade 1 maturity. What chances I have for vaginal delivery and what all precautions should I take. Do I deserve one more ultrasound for more check of placenta?
You didn't mentioned how far placenta is away from internal os. Even if you have low lying placenta ,it is most likely that it migrates away with time. You need follow up ultrasound. Vaginal delivery depends upon many things like maternal pelvis, maternal physical illness etc. It is too early to comment. If you have any complications like bleeding PV,rush to obstetrician. Vaginal delivery can be given as a trial even in low lying placenta who don't have complications.

Hi,
The low-lying placenta can move up as the pregnancy progresses. I think a repeat scan after a month can give some idea about possibility of placental shift. If placenta takes a proper position, there are chances of normal delivery for you. Till the time you should adapt healthy lifestyle-with high protein, vitamins, and iron & calcium rich diet. A 45 minutes walk /day. Pregnancy exercises under expert supervision. A peaceful eight hrs sleep. & adapting positive attitude. Wish you all the best! Thank you.
