2.5 Year Child, Having Seizure, Hyperactive. EEG Shows High Waves. Prescribed Eptoin. Will He Get Seizures In Future?

My son is two and five months old. Five days ago he got jerks and eyes went up. We immidiately rushed him to the nearest hospital but in between he got two more seizures. In his eeg report shows some high waves . Doctor says he will get this types of seizures till the age of 5-6. Earlier also at the age of 6 months & 1 year 6 months he got seizures but that time he was having high fever.
Now doctor has started eptoin 5 ml twice a day. Is their any side effect of the medicine on him?. He is hyper active. Will he get any seizures in future?

A small percentage of children getting febrile convulsions land up with epilepsy and then have to be kept on medication to prevent further seizures. Every medicine has a little side effect but the benefit has to be weighed against the side effect. Hence keep giving Eptoin to your son so that he does not have further seizures.
