Hi,
If urine examination is clear, & there is itching in vaginal region, the child is likely to have vulvovaginitis due to fungal origin(trichomonial ). the discharge here will be white. itching makes the part red.
the manegment cnsists of-
- Cleanliness of the part after each urination, cleanig of undergarmentscarefully.
- Local application of metranidazol creams . I prescrbe the ointments like Candid Vaginal creame when diagnosis is trichomonial vulvovaginitis.
-Oral adminisration of metranidazol syrup (1.5 tea spoon twice a day)after food for 5days would help. It should be accompanied by syrup B Complex(1sp. 2 times a day)
-to releave her of burning in urination, alkaline syrup .5 spoon thricea day) for 2-3 days should suffice.
- one has to be careful about hygine even after the problem is over. in fact this is the time to teach the child about personal hygine,
I am so sorry about what your daughter is going through. They are not impossible but rare occurrences in very young children.
Honestly, all genital infections in children must be closely investigated. Who stays with your daughter? Do you think there could be a possibility of any child abuse? Has there been any change in her behaviour? I don't know and hope not but we must rule out these possibilities by doing a complete physical exam and trying to identify the causative agent to make sure it is a bug that is not gotten through abuse.
I strongly suggest you get the child tested before treatment to clear off all these doubts. Thanks and hope this helps. Otherwise, please always feel free to come back.
